Presentation
Based in Ixelles, BabbelBike offers its activities to institutions throughout the Brussels region, including nursing homes, residential care facilities, day centres, municipalities, and other organisations.
The cycling outings generally last between 1.5 and 2 hours (or longer upon request), and several types of adapted bicycles can be provided. BabbelBike currently operates:
- Two or three rickshaw bikes with seating for two passengers.
- One or two side-by-side tricycles.
- One or two wheelchair-accessible bicycles designed for people using wheelchairs.
- A tricycle tandem, which is less suitable for seniors as it requires sitting on a bicycle saddle.
Depending on the circumstances, an outing can accommodate between 5 and 9 participants at a time.
BabbelBike creates opportunities for connection, sharing, meaningful conversations, and emotional moments between people of different generations. Participants can chat, enjoy the fresh air, and spend time outdoors in nature.
Through its activities, BabbelBike addresses several important social challenges:
- Social inclusion and community cohesion.
- Combating loneliness and isolation.
- Improving mental and physical well-being.
- Encouraging intergenerational connections.
- Promoting sustainable and active mobility.
